The texile cluster of Prato includes the municipality of: Cantagallo, Carmignano,  Montemurlo, Poggio a Caiano, Prato, Vaiano, Vernio (Province of Prato), Agliana, Montale, Quarrata (Province of Pistoia), Campi Bisenzio, Calenzano (Province of Firenze). The Prato Textile, located in the plane of Florence-Prato-Pistoia, in the basin of the Middle Valdarno, covers an area of 700 kmq and a population that has more than 300,000 inhabitants. This is a cluster that operates since 1107 with a clear predominance of textile production: mainly produces fabrics, which represent the largest share of production, yarns, textile machinery and clothes.  Read More →

The Fashion Cluster of Empoli is situated in Valdarno in the Province of Florence. It consists of eleven municipalities: Castelfiorentino, Capraia and Limite, Cerreto Guidi, Certaldo, Empoli, Gambassi Terme, Montaione, Montelupo Fiorentino, Montespertoli and Vinci. Companies are organized in a dense network of small productive units that represent about two-thirds of national production: the total number of firms belonging to the district amounted to 17,874 and 2938 are of the fashion sector, with approximately 23,352 employees. The tannery cluster is in the centre of the Tuscany, and ranges for 233 Km2. The cluster includes the following municipalities: Bientina, Castelfranco di Sotto, Montopoli Valdarno, Santa Croce sull’Arno, Santa Maria a Monte e San Miniato in Pisa’s province and Fucecchio in the province of Florence. The productive centre of the cluster is the town of Santa Croce sull’Arno, where are located the most part of the companies of the sector, split between tannery and contract works. The Footwear cluster of Lucca is located within the territory of municipalities of Altopascio, Capannori, Porcari, Villa Basilica, Lucca, Montecarlo, Pescaglia in an area of 511 kmq. The Footwear cluster of Lucca was born in the 40’s and it has been developed during the years mostly in the footwear field. The most noteworthy product of lucca footwear industry is casual or walking sandal aimed principally at the medium price range. This area in 2004 obtained recognitions as an industrial district. There are 424 companies with 2.763 employees in this field. The value of exports, worth almost 360 million euro. The EU market represents almost 60% of the exports from Lucca, while North America accounts for more than 15% of the total.  Read More →
